I have an AA degree and 10 years’ experience in early childhood education. I also have 27 contact hours in Handwriting without Tears training and am current on STARS merit. I am a strong advocate for children starting their elementary education experience with confidence and high self-esteem. I strive to give every child an equal opportunity to learn by adapting to each child’s learning style and creating a playful environment where learning is fun. I believe instilling a love for learning at an early age is the foundation on which success in school begins. I am blessed beyond measure to work with these precious children and my purpose goes far beyond academics and social skills. My goal is to prepare children to have an authentic relationship with God by introducing key concepts and truths of the bible and the unconditional love Jesus has for them.
I am married to Mike Oberstar, a Tacoma Firefighter, and together we have 5 kids. Our kids are all in the Peninsula School district where I have spent considerable time volunteering in the classroom as well as with their extra-curricular activities. I have also been very involved with my church including serving as the children’s ministry special events coordinator as well as leading VBS. I love volunteering with nursery care, children’s church, and Sunday school. I currently attend Resurrection Church of Tacoma to be with my family.
